Bombardier Recognized as a Sustainability Leader

Montreal, Quebec (Marketwire – Sept. 13, 2012): For the sixth consecutive year, Bombardier has been chosen as an index component in the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index and the Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index, benchmark indicators of sustainability. In addition, for the first time, Bombardier was named Sector Leader within the Aerospace and Defense sector.
Bombardier is among the 340 top companies worldwide included in this year’s annual review of the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes (DJSI). Bombardier also ranks among the 140 most successful companies in the DJSI North America Index.
The results of a comprehensive sustainability assessment conducted by Dow Jones and Swiss company Sustainable Asset Management (SAM), the DJSI follow a best-in-class approach, evaluating the performance of the world’s leaders in sustainability on criteria across economic, environmental and social dimensions. As the longest-running global sustainability benchmarks worldwide, they have become the key
reference point in sustainability investing for both investors and companies.
“Corporate social responsibility is an integral part of our competitive foundation, enabling us to achieve our growth strategies, shaping the evolution of mobility,” said Me Daniel Desjardins, Senior Vice President, General Counsel, Corporate Secretary and CSR Committee Chairman, Bombardier Inc.
“Being the Sector Leader represents worldwide recognition, and is an indication to all our stakeholders that we not only consider our environmental and social responsibilities, but also embed them throughout our business activities as a fundamental component of our enterprise strategy. None of this would be achievable without the commitment of our 70,000 employees worldwide,” added Me Desjardins.
Earlier this year, following its 2011 listing on the DJSI World and DJSI North America, Bombardier was awarded SAM Sector Mover and SAM Gold Class in the 2012 SAM Sustainability Yearbook. As the SAM Sector Mover, Bombardier ranked within the top 15% of its sector, Aerospace & Defense, and achieved the largest proportional improvement in its sustainability performance over the previous year. Additionally,
Bombardier received the SAM Gold Class award, ranking within 1% of the 2011 Sector Leader’s score.
