Several people from various cities in the state have been fooled by thugs based out of Gurgaon and Noida into paying huge sums for a jobs at the city airport which simply do not exist.
These thugs place ads stating `jobs at Ahmedabad airport’ in Gujarati newspapers with phone numbers. When an aspirant calls, they ask himher to deposit a certain amount of money in a bank account and take their address and phone numbers. These scamsters then provide them a joining letter bearing the logo of Airports Authority of India (AAI), which manages the city airport. Only when these aspirants finally reach the airport do they realize that somebody has fooled them.
Last month, city-based Umang Panchal deposited Rs 8,000 in a bank account after he saw an ad for a job at the airport. “After depositing the money , when I called the number given in the newspaper, a lady called Meenakshi answered the phone. She told me to come to international terminal and when I reached there, her phone just went off,” said Panchal.
