55-yr-old Gujarat Flying Club set to spread wings
Vadodara: One of the oldest flying clubs in India is all set to spread its wings. Gujarat Flying Club (GFC), the first flying club of Gujarat, is planning to reach out to more students interested in becoming commercial pilots.
The club, which was established in 1959, has decided to buy three new aircraft, including a twin engine airplane, this year. Celebrating 55 years of its existence, GFC already has three Cessna airplanes, two of which are decades old.
GFC plans to buy a twin-engine airplane costing Rs 3.5 crore to give better exposure to the trainees, who go on to fly commercial airplanes having twin engines. “India will need at least 15,000 pilots over the next five years as the number of airplanes will be increasing manifold. We have decided to increase the intake of students from 20 to 40 and want to produce more pilots by next year. GFC will also be able to provide advanced flight training after inclusion of the twin-engine plane,” said GFC honorary secretary, Haren Patel.

ya, they said the same in 2007, India will need around 10000 pilots . Now India has got almost that many no of Unemployed pilots . now they saying another 15,000 pilots needed in the next 5 years . you must be kidding !! stop playing with students future with fake promises !!
absolutely agree with u they r playing with students future…there r no boom in aviation and so many unemployed pilots waiting 4 d job
