19 pilots of Coast Guard, Navy get ‘Wings of Gold’

Vellore: Wings of Gold’ were awarded to 12 pilots of the Indian Navy and seven pilots of the Coast Guard at an impressive passing-out parade of the 74th Helicopter Conversion Course of the Helicopter Training School (HTS) at the Naval Air Station, INS Rajali, at Arakkonam on Saturday.
The Helicopter Training School, also known as Indian Naval Air Squadron INAS 561, is a premier training institution that is the alma mater of every helicopter pilot of the Indian Navy. The School conducts two courses every year and the trainee pilots, during the conversion, undergo one of the most demanding flying syllabi that exist anywhere. The challenge of being a helicopter pilot is gruelling with an intense curriculum that tests the trainees for proficiency in flying and sound knowledge of aviation subjects.
