Local lass Anupreet becomes ace commercial pilot
Amritsar: With 200 hours’ flying experience under her belt, local lass Anupreet Kaur has become an accomplished commercial pilot.
Born at Heir village, close to Sri Guru Ramdas Jee International Airport, she had been watching aeroplanes flying on the rooftop of her house, which inspired her to become a pilot one day.
This didn’t come easy as she had to go through the grind to realise her dream. After passing out her senior secondary examination in the non-medical stream from Holy Heart Presidency School in 2011, she took admission in Aviation Club at Amritsar airport to learn flying.
Talking to the Amritsar Tribune, she said, “I invested the next five years in learning how to handle flying machinesâ€.
She recalled her first break came in September 2016 when she was selected for Jet Airways. “Since then, I have been flying on domestic and international routesâ€.
“Although, flying planes is a challenging job, it provides her with an unforgettable experienceâ€. On girls taking up flying, she said the profession offered immense opportunities to girls and they could carve out an exciting and a long-term career in the field. She advised the prospective female pilots to put in their whole- hearted efforts and work with a steely resolve to achieve their dream.
