Job rackets busted, two arrested
Kolkata: Two persons have been arrested for allegedly duping clients with fake job offers and siphoning off lakhs of rupees. While one of the arrests was made by Kalighat police, the other was carried out by Park Street police.
Yahwey Dubey, 39, a resident of Rajarhat, was allegedly running a fake institute under the name Sri Bajaj Education Development Corporation on Sadananda Road. He anointed himself as the institute’s director and offered fake courses in navigation and aviation. He also claimed to have had a tie-up with Mahatma Gandhi University in Kerala.
“We verified with the university and found this claim to be false,” said an investigating officer.
“We received a complaint from one Anjan Ghosh who claimed that Dubey had even handed them forged offer letters. He had cheated the complainant of over Rs 2.5 lakh. We arrested him from his residence on Friday. We have so far found that he has cheated at least 18 other students and the total amount will be more than Rs 15 lakh,” said DC (south) Murlidhar Sharma.
