New deals raise job prospects in aviation

Mumbai: With new aviation companies preparing to take wings, local market in India is abuzz with recruitment drives.
Close on the heels of AirAsia India’s recruitment drive, UAE’s national carrier Etihad Airways has just announced that it has completed its biggest ever recruitment drive in India ahead of its operational expansion in the country in December.
According to the airline, it received over 1,000 applications from people looking to join the cabin crew division.
“The drive, in Bangalore, Mumbai and New Delhi, successfully found the required 200 applicants who will be trained as Etihad Airways cabin crew in advance of the airline’s operational expansion in India in December,” Etihad said in a statement. There are nearly 4,000 cabin crew members already flying aboard Etihad Airways aircraft.
The Abu Dhabi-based airlines recently announced that it would increase flight frequencies and introduce wide-bodied aircraft to India for the first time, with greater expansion set for 2014.
