University of Pune offers M Tech aviation course
Pune: The University of Pune (UoP) on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Germany’s top pilot training and flight school, Fachshule fur Luftfahrzeugfuhrer (FFL), to launch a two-year M Tech (Aviation) course which will commence from September 1.
The basic qualification required to join the new semester pattern course is a degree in engineering or technology branch. During the course, students will study at UoP’s department of technology for the first six months while the remaining three semesters would involve onsite training at the FFL facilities in Germany; eventually leading to a European flying licence by German aviation regulator LBA.
While the UoP will award the M Tech (Aviation) degree, students returning to India after their onsite training will be required to undertake probe tests by the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to secure an Indian licence which would also enable them to operate in the Asia Pacific region too, apart from Europe. “We are in talks with DGCA to facilitate such licensing,” UoP vice-chancellor (VC) Wasudeo N Gade said.
