Jakkur flying school flaps its wings again
Bangalore: The heritage Government Flying Training School (GFTS) at Jakkur will be back in the thick of action, early next week. Flying classes are set to resume, with 11 candidates having enrolled themselves with the school for private and commercial pilot licences.
The school suspended its training operations two years ago, after the director general of civil aviation (DGCA) came down heavily on the institution for its various alleged irregularities.
About one-and-a-half years ago, the relevant clearances from the DGCA, including the Certificate of Airworthiness for the trainer aircraft, were obtained. But the lack of instructors, including the chief flying instructor, forced courses to be stalled till the beginning of 2013.
