On a whim, flying school grounded before take off
Jaipur: Hopes for a fresh take off of the Jaipur Flying Club, dormant for the last 4 years and mired in controversy, have been dashed as it will miss its date with the scheduled interviews for its posts on Friday in a sudden volte-face by the government.
“A last minute decision was taken on Thursday evening and communicated to the concerned department by the government to postpone the interviews scheduled for Friday, until further notice. No reason has been given yet,†said sources.
When principal secretary general administration (GAD) and chairman of the Flying Club, RP Jain, was contacted by DNA, he feigned ignorance saying, “I am not aware of this. The last I knew, it (interview) was to take place tomorrow.â€
Sources however, confirmed that the government had given specific instructions to postpone the interviews. “This is shocking, given that so much effort has gone into reviving the school and putting this interview together. For the first time in Club’s history, a senior DGCA official had consented to be a part of the interview panel,†officials said.
