Students may get ‘wings’ to fly into aviation sector

Lucknow: Looking forward to a career in aviation industry? No need to worry now. Manyawar Kanshiram Institute of Tourism Management (MKITM), a UP tourism undertaking is introducing two job-oriented courses that will train candidates to get the job of air hostess/flight steward and assisting passengers at the airport.

The two courses, one-year diploma in air hostess/flight steward training and four-month airport passenger service agent diploma, will commence from the academic session 2012-13. Both the courses have been designed to train the candidates as per the specific needs and requirements of the aviation sector.
The air hostess/flight steward training will focus on the areas like hospitality, travel and tourism, communication skills, customer care, grooming, persona enhancement, first-aid, swimming, aircraft familiarisation, while the airport passenger service agent diploma will deal in basics of aviation, codes, world geography, customer service, passport and visa, baggage handling procedure, foreign currency, airport security, emergency and others. Besides, emphasis will also be given on creating virtual set-ups of aircraft cabin and certain areas of the airport to make the candidates aware of the setting of their work fields, thereby, making them comfortable once they start their jobs as professionals in the industry.
