Airline staff ready to switch sectors without jump in salary; look to tourism, BPO for openings

Bangalore: Employees with various airlines are making a dash for the exit with Kingfisher Airlines in trouble and job prospects in the sector looking bleak. The inflow of resumes to placement firms from these employees has increased by 25% to 30% as compared with last year.

Resumes of cabin crew and ground staff are being forwarded to the tourism, hospitality, information technology and business process outsourcing sectors, for managerial and customer-centric jobs.
“At least 10% of employees are ready to switch sectors without any jump in salaries,” says Kunal Banerji, CEO of Absolute HR International. Those who get an increase while shifting loyalties have to be content with a 5% to 15% raise, which in the present economic scenario would have been at least 20% to 25%.
Since many have not gone through an appraisal cycle, they come cheaper for their new employers, says Banerji. “Very few prefer the aviation sector and would rather go in for back-end operations in IT or BPO despite the greater number of qualifying rounds.

  1. where are the millions of jobs which were supposed to be created in this booming aviation industry as claimed by this crap aviation website. the ground staff and other professional can easily change the industry , but what about pllots and the most neglected of all so called aircraft maintenance engineers , they are the most sevely hit by this crisis as they cant change thier field . is the editor of this site still so optimistic about aviation !!!!! if not then stop posting glamarous news about carrer in aviation & stop fooling innocent students .

  2. there is a list of more than 30+ aviation employment sites here , but guess what not a single job for a ame fresher like me .

  3. AVIATION INDUSTRY IS A MOST DRASTIC FIELD, THERE IS NO JOB FOR FRESHER AND NOT EVEN CONFIRMED JOB FOR EMPLOYEE WHO IS IN JOB.

  4. I think the sector will become stable by the end of 2012. Also recruitment should take place as Jet, Indigo & Spicejet are aiming to expand it’s operations. Air India is to get 27 dreamliners. WOOOHOOOOOOO… GOOOOO AVIATION!!!!!!!!!!

  5. Cabin Crew Aspirant @ – pleaze keep your mouth shut ,especially if u dont know of ame field , cabin crew and other ppl can easily change the industry , but we cnt and nothing signifinant is going to happen at the end of 2012 .
