Indian student pilot and Emirati instructor injured in Philippines crash
An Emirati instructor pilot has been given a clean bill of health after his plane crash-landed in the Philippines on Wednesday.
Musa Abdul Wahid Abdul Ghaffar Al Khaja, the UAE ambassador to the Philippines, identified the pilot as Khairi Al Muqbali, 28.
“He’s OK based on his CT scan and X-ray results,” Mr Al Khaja said by phone from Manila. “The police also told us that he’s OK, but we still would like to offer any form of assistance.”
Initial reports by police on Wednesday said two Emiratis were involved in the crash.
But yesterday, Chief Supt Agrimero Cruz Jr, a spokesman for the Philippine National Police, said one man in the plane was from the UAE and one was from India. An incident report released yesterday said the Indian, Ragavanandam Karunakaran, 22, who was also injured, was a student pilot flying with Mr Al Muqbali.
Their Cessna crashed and flipped in a rice field at Villa Lorenzo, Baranggay Penabatan, in Pulilan town of Bulacan province.
The aircraft is owned by AMA Delta Flying School in Plaridel, Bulacan.

I have been in touch with the aviation standard in Philippines and I am aware of the flight safety environment there. On many complains the DGCA authorities visited to check the irregularities but nothing much happened. Most of these schools break all the normal flight safety norms and still Indian students risk their lives due lower rates of CPL etc. Lower rates are due poor standard of teaching and huge over-logging. Students with less than 100 hrs gain CPL.
Sadly we have no ways to correct thses abnormilities.
I would like to share something with u guys……i dont know how much ure aware on philippines aviation. I except that Philippines dont have the best flying standards but we guys have to except that they have better training standards then India. Now on the matter of over-logging we all know wt going on here also we know Jaipur Flying school we know Carver and lot more so we have to improve our standards other then blaming others………….Rest we have lot of Philipino Pilot who r flying for Indian companies and they r good thas y hey r sitting on that designations…..we have philipino senior Pilots and some r check pilots also……………
So moral of the story accident happen dont raise fingers first check the facts………An average middle class person cant finish his flying in 3yrs if he is flying in india………..Then we have great instructors and management who allow u everything other then flying……….
Our politicians also died in crash and all lot of fighters fall down so its machine we have to understand and improve not blame others……….
well said Mr.VishvaVikas..!!! before blaming others we should see our own face in mirror. There is no Fake Pilot issue in Philippines, it is only in india,. so plz indian pilots stop blaming/teasing philipino pilots. Offcrse before some schools involved in over-logging.. i also know tat. Recently NBA investigations made flying regulations more strict than before. Now no schools involving in overlogging here.. Its hard to believe this. i flown 45 hrs close to PPL, if u proove atleast 1 hour of mine is fake or overlogging., i’m ready to leave this field..
Many Airline pilots in india learned “how to fly” in philippines only. plz try to respect the changes.. training flights accidents happening not only here… no one takingoff for a crashlanding.. it all happens…
M Also With U Capt Vishva Vikas
U R Right
I also support VishvaVikas. Philippines is good for flying now a days.
Well said guys! I was flying in India for almost 4 years as an airline captain, and I am proud to say I taught lot of Indian co- pilots the rudiments of flying. Brave enough to let junior co-pilots took over controls, I risked my license because my philosophy is that I rather lose my license teaching this guys even if they dont have enough hours as laid down by the company rather than lose my life, the passengers and the aircraft should the uneventful situation of my incapacitation in flight happens, disaster is likely on the making if my co-pilots cannot land the aircraft.
