Aviation Academy ordered to give compensation and to pay back half fee

Chandigarh: The District Consumer Redressal Forum has directed Avalon Aviation Academy to refund 50 per cent of the course fee and pay Rs 50,000 as compensation to a complainant.
The complainant Karamjit Kaur, a resident of Sector 20, stated that she had approached the academy for aviation training. The total fee for the course was Rs 1.05 lakh which was to be paid in installments.
The complainant’s contention was that Avalon Aviation Academy was to provide placement within a stipulated period of one year after successful completion of the course, failing which it would refund 50 per cent of the course fee. She alleged that in order to avoid the refund, the aviation academy made the complainant, along with other students sign on some “general terms & conditions”. It was further alleged that the diploma was not issued to the complainant after completion of the training. Kaur, in her complaint, further stated that she was sent to a fake interview and 50 per cent of the fee, as promised, was not refunded.
