'More opportunities for pilots, markets recovering'

Chennai: The gradual recovery of the markets from the recent global recession promises more opportunities for aspiring pilots in the aviation industry, a top official of US-based Delta Flight School said here today.
“With signs of market recovering post recession, a requirement of 18,000 pilots a year is needed globally … the demand for qualified pilots (from India) is increasing,” Delta Flight School Captain Prashanth Elangovan told reporters.
In view of this, the School is offering a 12 month course under scholarship programme ‘All India Pilot Challenge 2010’ for the first time in the country, mainly to create awareness among students on how to become future pilots, Elangovan said.
